The Wisconsin football team is in Texas this week preparing for the program's 15th-straight bowl game — the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. Bowl games provide teams with more than simply another football game. It's a reward for the hard work of the season and an opportunity for younger players to gain experience for the future. For UW secondary coach Jim Leonhard, a tenacious walk-on turned All-American for the Badgers and 10-year NFL veteran, this year's Cotton Bowl has also provided the team with an opportunity to build resiliency and confidence after a tough loss in the Big Ten Championship Game. Heading into his last Badger football game, senior and team co-captain Dare Ogunbowale recently celebrated his UW graduation and is fired up for the Cotton Bowl. In this week's Badgering Q&A, Andy Baggot talks with Ogunbowale about his biggest challenge, the next wave of leaders on the team and the first story he'll tell his kids about his career at Wisconsin.
In this week's issue, UW Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez shares his own Bowl memories and thoughts on Monday's matchup against the Broncos, while Matt Lepay — the Voice of the Badgers — says there's no shortage of motivation for the Badgers: "It is one final test for a group that has come a long way since early October. Playing well on Tuesday against an unbeaten team would be a sweet way to conclude the season."
