Badgers complete third day at Phillips 66 National Championships

SAN ANTONIO -- Chase Kinney stood out during the third day of action for Badgers at the 2015 Phillips 66 National Championships in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday.
The sophomore from Canton, Ohio finished in 11th place during preliminaries of the 50-meter freestyle with a time 25.67 seconds, which qualified her for the B Final later that evening.
In the B Final of the 50 freestyle, Kinney shaved even more time off her swim and finished fourth in 25.55 seconds. Lili Lopez Ibanez won the B Final in 25.23 seconds.
This past collegiate season, Kinney swam the fifth-fastest 50-yard freestyle time in Wisconsin program history (22.42) and finished sixth at the Big Ten championships. In addition to begin a first-team All-Big Ten honoree, Kinney was an All-American and contributed to the Big Ten and UW record-breaking 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.
Anna Meinholz and Maria Carlson competed in the 100-meter breaststroke. Meinholz finished 48th during prelims with a time of one minute, 11.56 seconds, while Carlson finished 59th at 1:12.12.
The Wisconsin Aquatics 800-meter freestyle relay team finished 11th with a combined time of 8:26.74. Hannah James, Kinney, Danielle Valley and Marissa Berg swam on the relay team.
