MADISON, Wis. -- Current Wisconsin women's hockey players Annie Pankowski, Karley Sylvester and Jenny Ryan, along with former Badgers Brianna Decker, Meghan Duggan, Hilary Knight, Alex Rigsby and Jessie Vetter received invitations from USA Hockey to participate at its winter training camp in Blaine, Minnesota, at the end of the month, the organization announced last week.
The camp, which runs Dec. 27-31, features 16 members of the silver medal-winning 2014 U.S. Women's Olympic Ice Hockey Team, which included Decker, Duggan, Knight and Vetter.
Pankowski, who was a part of the U.S. National Team leading up to 2014 Winter Olympics, leads all NCAA rookies with 24 points this year and a points per game average of 1.26. A native of Laguna Hills, California, Pankowski's 24 points rank second on the Badgers this year.
Ryan, a native of Victor, New York, ranks 20th among NCAA defensemen in points per game with a 0.65 average. She has been a mainstay on the Badgers' blue line, helping UW rank third nationally in scoring defense with a 1.10 goals against average.
Sylvester currently ranks 12th in the country in points per game with a 1.32 average. An assistant captain for the Badgers this year, Sylvester has recorded 31 goals and 44 assists during her four years at Wisconsin.
The trio aren't the only current Badgers in action during the winter break, as Sarah Nurse and Ann-Renee Desbiens will play on Canada's National Developmental Team in the Nation's Cup Jan. 2-6 in Fussen, Germany.
No. 3 Wisconsin resumes action Jan. 10-11 with a Border Battle series at No. 2 Minnesota.
