MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin women’s hockey sophomores Ann-Renée Desbiens and Sarah Nurse each earned spots on Hockey Canada’s National Development Team that will compete at the 2015 Nations Cup, as announced by Hockey Canada last week.
The 2015 Nations Cup, formerly known as the Air Canada Cup, MLP Cup and Meco Cup, brings together Canada’s National Women’s Development Team and national teams from Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland for a four-day international tournament, Jan. 2-6, 2015 in Füssen, Germany.
The Wisconsin pair both appeared on Canada’s National Development Team during its series against the United States Under-22 National Team, and were invited to Hockey Canada’s National Fall Festival in September.
Desbiens has played in 13 games for the Badgers this fall, and has a 10-2-1 record between the pipes for the Cardinal and White this season. Nurse is tied for second on the team with seven goals, while her three power-play tallies are tied for the team lead.
Desbiens, Nurse and the No. 3 Badgers hit the road this weekend for a non-conference series at New Hampshire.
