Player of the Game

Senior Lin Zastrow led all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting (.600) from the field. She was also 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Zastrow added a career-high seven assists and pulled down three rebounds in 35 minutes.

Play of the Game

At the end of the first half, Alyssa Karel dished off a pass to Lin Zastrow in the lane for an easy bucket to put Wisconsin up 30-23 at the half. The play looked like it was being set up for a 3-pointer by Taylor Wurtz on the baseline but Karel hit a wide-open Zastrow for the score.

Stat of the Game

Wisconsin dished off a season-high 22 assists. Lin Zastrow tallied a career-high seven assists while Alyssa Karel dished off a season-high six dimes. Taylor Wurtz added a career-high five helpers.

Notables

Junior Anya Covington equaled her season high with 16 points on 7-of-12 (.583) shooting from the field. She also went 2-of-3 from the free throw line and pulled down seven rebounds in 19 minutes of play.

Wisconsin improves to 4-0 in the first round of the WNIT. The Badgers also won first-round games in 1999 (32 teams), 2000 (32 teams) and 2007 (48 teams). UW earned first-round byes in 2008 (48 teams) and 2009 (48 teams).

The Badgers improve to 2-0 all-time against Butler.

All 11 players who were dressed saw action in the game. Nine of the 11 athletes scored at least two points.

Wisconsin outrebounded Butler 38-28, the third-highest advantage of the season. Three Badgers shared game-high honors with seven rebounds apiece – Anya Covington, Taylor Wurtz and Alyssa Karel. Wurtz hit career-rebound No. 300 tonight.

Senior Alyssa Karel has scored at least one 3-pointer in her last 18 games. The 5-7 guard was 2-of-6 from behind the arc tonight.

Wisconsin will host the winner of the Central Michigan (20-10) at Illinois State (20-10) game (to be played Thursday night) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Kohl Center.
