Post-Game Coach Stone Quotes
Wisconsin vs. Michigan

Opening Statement
“(It was) a tough day for us, I’m sad for the players, the day to recognize our seniors, just an absolutely wonderful senior class. I thought Jade’s (Davis) shot was going in. (It) sat up in the air for a long time, I thought that was going down.
“But the game doesn’t come down to one shot or one play. It comes down to 40 minutes, and I give Michigan a lot of credit. The first half they found ways to get mismatches. We ran a small lineup and we had a hard time defending Rachel Sheffer in the first half. She had 18 points at halftime and finished with 22, so a much better adjustment at half.
“I thought Emily Neal gave us a great spark today, she has some patience and poise and knocked some shots down, had a turnover here and there but bottom line is she gave us a really needed spark in Tara Steinbauer’s absence. Lin Zastrow and Alyssa Karel played nearly the entire game and it was a grind.
I was very pleased with our second-half efforts; their last six possessions they scored and we didn’t get stops down the stretch. So that’s the story of the game, we didn’t get stops down the stretch. (We) shot the ball really well. We ran a spread offense, four-guard offense rotation and did well offensively. We just needed to get some stops, and those last six possessions we didn’t get stops.”
On coming back in the second half:
“I am very proud of the team, they are a relentless group. We are a second half team, we talked about it a halftime and I knew we would give a valiant effort there is not a player on our team that didn’t leave themselves on the floor. They laid it out there and played very well. I am proud of them.
What I told them was, it was a great battle and we may see Michigan again pretty soon, there is a very good chance of that happening. You would like to play them a third time. They had our number twice, but again I give them credit they scored down the stretch. Kate Thompson came in and knocked down some threes on us and Courtney Boylan really drove hard, Alyssa played really hard defense on her and she made some really tough shots and that’s the story of the game.”
Alyssa Karel on what makes Courtney Boylan so tough:
“(She’s) just relentless. She a little undersized buts she’s tough. She takes it at you like she’s six feet, so just that toughness really.”
Lin Zastrow on Rachel Sheffer's play today:“In the first half, she had our number a little bit. In the second half, my goal was to be as physical as possible and keep her out. In the first half, she got prime position and that’s hard to stop anyone if you are that low. So I just tried to be as physical as I could with her and keep her off the block.”
Jade Davis
on being so hot in the 3-point range:
“Honestly, just my teammates penetrating and kicking. Once we started moving and really working together, they couldn’t find us. Alyssa and Taylor were able to find me, Lin every once in a while tells me to shoot it when I’m wide open and don’t really see it, so it was really just a team effort.”

Head Coach Kevin Borseth
On the difference between the first and second half:
"A big thing in the second half was that we had trouble scoring because of (Lin) Zastrow. She did a great job shutting the traffic down one-on-one. Every time we cut, we had to give it to somebody else. Zastrow just smothered that and it took the whole offense away from us. In the first half that was the difference."
On Courtney Boylan's play:
"Courtney (Boylan) made the last three plays down the stretch. I believe she made the last six points. She's a kid that has the ability to get down in the paint and score on anybody. She's very crafty, she's strong, she's got great hands and has great hang time. When she scores, it doesn't look like she can do it, but she's very good around the basket."
On the importance of the game in the Big Ten:
"There's no question this was a big game for either one of us. For us it was a very good win to have, and I thought it was a very well played basketball game. I think players on both teams made unbelievable plays. (Jade Davis) made a couple of 3's from downtown. They made big plays, Zastrow made big plays, our kids made big plays, Kate Thompson made big plays. You saw a ton of playmakers in this game in the second half. It was almost unparalleled, and it came down to that last minute."
