MADISON, Wis. - We're getting to know the incoming Badger softball players during their offseason winter months, learning their likes, dislikes and a little bit more about their personalities.
We continue this week with freshman outfielder Marissa Mersch from Downers Grove, Ill. Mersch set school records her senior year for Downers Grove South in batting average, career average, career hits and career doubles. She was also an Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year nominee her senior year.

Age when started playing softball: 9 years old
If you could be any person for one day, it would be: Erin Andrews, because I love ESPN and I would enjoy interviewing famous athletes
Dream job: My dream job would be a psychiatrist because I love interacting with others and helping them with their problems.
What/who got you started in softball? As a child I was surrounded by sports and my family influenced me into playing as a young girl.
Dream vacation: Spain, Italy
Type of music you cannot stand: Screamo
Favorite actor/actress: Leonardo Dicaprio and Reese Witherspoon
If you could describe yourself in one word it would be: Dedicated
Most famous person you have met: Michael Jordan
If you were stranded on an island and you could only have three items with you, what would they be?
If I were stranded on an island I would have another person, water and my dog, Buster.
Best part of playing softball at Wisconsin: The best part about playing softball at Wisconsin is being surrounded by a great group of girls and coaches who have no other desire but to win and work hard to achieve goals. Also Wisconsin is a program that will never back down and will always give 110%.
