SAN FRANCISCO -- After battling two tough BYU and Saint Mary’s teams in the Concord-Hilton Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday in Moraga, Calif., the Wisconsin women’s basketball team wrapped up the West Coast weekend with a day in San Francisco.
Wisconsin had their final team breakfast of the weekend at 8:15 a.m. (PT) at the Concord-Hilton hotel in Concord, Calif., and hit the road at 9 a.m. (PT) for a day of exploration.
The first stop the Badgers made was at a San Francisco Pier. From there, they took an Alcatraz Cruise boat to Alcatraz Island. After a 15 minute boat cruise along the San Francisco Bay, the Badgers arrived at Alcatraz, an island that once housed the most dangerous prisoners in America. The team spent a couple of hours exploring the island and former prison with a guided audio tour.
The team concluded the day with lunch and time spent along the San Francisco Bay at Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39.
Wisconsin’s final pit stop was near the Golden Gate Bridge where the team got the opportunity to see breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay, San Francisco skyline, Alcatraz Island and of course, the famous bridge.
