After scoring two goals and notching one assist against Minnesota State last Sunday Nov. 30, junior forward Meghan Duggan was named offensive player of the week by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association for the week of Dec. 2.
Helping the Badgers sweep the Mavericks over Thanksgiving break, Duggan notched four points on the weekend. As the Badgers put away the Mavericks 8-0 Friday, Duggan tallied an assist. On Sunday Duggan came back to the rink to score two goals and notch another assist, aiding the Badgers in a decisive 7-2 victory. Duggan further proved a vital asset in the series as she took ten shots on goal, contributed in killing nine penalties and earned a +3 plus/minus rating.
As the Badgers remain victorious in a record breaking season-opening unbeaten streak of 18 games, Duggan currently holds a six game point streak. Overall this season, Duggan has scored eight goals and contributed 17 assists to tally 25 points in just 18 games.
Duggan is the fourth Badger to receive a player of the week honor from the WCHA. This is Duggan's first WCHA player of the week honor of the year.
Duggan and the Badgers play this weekend (Dec. 5 and 6) at the Kohl Center against St. Cloud State. Face-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. both days.
