On team defense after Minnesota's 18-0 run: 'I give our kids a ton of credit. We talk about a strong start, but it kind of went south on us for a bit. The momentum just had to switch back in our direction. Once it did, it really fueled our energy and I thought we had tremendous energy from that point throughout the rest of the game.'
On Teah Gant: 'How about Teah Gant ' What a tremendous game by her both offensively and defensively and it really sparked it for us. In the very last timeout we had said that the guards have to rebound and she comes up with a board, goes to the free throw line for two and caps it off. Minnesota is a great team. I give them a ton of credit. We only play them once but this is a great win for our team.'
On limiting Minnesota's guards, Emily Fox, Brittany McCoy and Katie Ohm to only one basket each: 'That's tremendous defense. I thought [Ashley] Ellis-Milan inside was a tough handful. We brought the double to her because that was their scorer. But Emily Fox and Katie Ohm are tremendous players. I think our defense really got out there and got our hands up on the shooters and boxed them out. I thought offensively for us we did a nice job. We took better shots, more quality shots today. We got to the free throw line and capitalized.'
On Alyssa Karel shooting Wisconsin out of an early slump: 'I was a little concerned. I told Alyssa to take a deep breath and when we put her back in, lightning struck. I think she had two threes in a row in the first half that got her going and instilled her defense as well. I thought she did a nice job. She had Emily Fox, that was her match-up. Alyssa did a great job for us and we had good balanced scoring. I thought Rae Lin [D'Alie] made a nice decision late. Shot clock 's running down, I'm not sure how far we were up, but she dumped that one to Lin [Zastrow]. That was a big play for us. I can't say enough about our players. We lacked some energy in that six minutes, but we found it back and found a way to fight and beat a good team.'
