Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder post-game quotes
December 22, 2008 | Women's Basketball
Opening Statement: 'We feel very thankful to come in here and get a win tonight. I thought our team was very focused. I thought we came out and played great defense right off the bat and did a good job defensively on the boards in the first half. We shot the ball very well. Everybody contributed. Wendy (Ausdemore) hitting threes, Kachine (Alexander) driving to the basket, JoAnn (Hamlin) and Megan (Skouby) inside.
'I really like the team balance that we have right now. This is the second game in a row that we have had four people in double figures and the fifth person at eight (points). I think we have a really nice balance and a lot of different weapons, but this was a good game because Wisconsin had (won) 10 in a row coming into this game. We are on the road, the second day in three days, and I think it was a tough scenario for us. I am really, really proud of the way that the women handled it.'
On opening the Big Ten season before Christmas: 'As long as we are having 18 games in the Big Ten it is going to continue to happen, so maybe that is a good thing for us. I am not in favor of it traditionally, but I do like the 2-0 record. I think we as a team are happy but I think probably every parent and family member are pretty happy that we got this win as well.'
