The Badgers' 10-1 non-conference record was the best mark of any Big Ten school this season. Wisconsin opened the 2008-09 campaign on the road with a loss against South Dakota State but since then, the Badgers rattled off 10-straight wins, which ties for the fourth-longest winning streak in the country and is the second-longest winning streak in school history. Wisconsin is also a perfect 6-0 at the Kohl Center so far this season.
Iowa finished the non-conference season 7-4 after defeating Drake, 71-53 Saturday. The Hawkeyes are 1-2 against ranked competition this season, defeating then-No. 22 Iowa State but lost to then-No. 3 California during the Reef Division of the Paradise Jam and then-No. 12 Duke on the road. Iowa was picked to finish fourth in the Big Ten by conference coaches and fifth by the media in the preseason poll. Two starters return off last year's team that tied for first in the conference with a 12-5 record.
