
Ammerman, Duggan and Sanders lead Badgers to victory

With Brooke Ammerman, Meghan Duggan and Kyla Sanders each scoring two goals apiece, Wisconsin put Minnesota State away 7-2 at the Kohl Center Sunday afternoon. Winning both games of the series, the Badgers move to 16-0-2 overall and 9-0-2 in conference play extending their unbeaten streak to 18 halfway through the regular season. The Mavericks dropped to 6-9-1 overall and 3-8-1 in conference.
The Badgers started off the first period strong as three different players scored four goals. Kyla Sanders scored first with a shorthanded goal off of Jasmine Giles' assist five minutes into the game. Giles stole the puck at the blue line and quickly passed it to Sanders who snapped it up over Minnesota State's goalie Alli Altman's right shoulder.
Angie Keseley scored next for the Badgers on a power play 6:26 into the period. Keseley's shot was assisted by Giles and Duggan. Six minutes later, Brooke Ammerman put it in from the bottom corner of the crease. Kelly Nash contributed the assist. With five minutes left in the period, Ammerman scored her second goal and the Badger's final goal of the period. Ammerman tipped it in off of Alycia Matthews' shot from the blue line. Kyla Sanders was also attributed with an assist.
The Mavericks changed up their goalie in the second period, but Minnesota State still could not stop Wisconsin's offense. The Badgers added two more goals to their previous four, while the Mavericks scored their first. Wisconsin scored first as Duggan put it past Paige Thunder four minutes into the period. Mallory Deluce notched the assist. Just twenty seconds later, Sanders scored her second goal of the day off of assists by Ammerman and Giles. Minnesota State scored their first goal with three minutes left in the period. Abby Williams tipped it in over Vetter 's left shoulder off of an attempt by Moira O'Connor. Kathleen Rosso was also given an assist.
Alannah McCready went in for Vetter in the third period as Minnesota State and Wisconsin each scored a goal ending the game in a Wisconsin 7-2 victory. The Mavericks scored first four minutes in to the period as Ashley Young assisted Lisa Edman 's goal. Duggan scored her second goal of the game at 12:29 with an assist from Deluce.
Duggan increased her point-scoring streak to six games and Ammerman to seven games. Giles had three assists while Duggan, Ammerman and Sanders each had two goals and an assist.
The Badgers went 1-5 on the power play and the Mavericks went 0-7. Vetter saved 14 shots and McCready saved 13 while Altmann and Thunder saved four and 21, respectively.
The Badgers next play St. Cloud State Dec. 5 and 6 at the Kohl Center.
