Due to her outstanding performance against North Dakota last weekend, sophomore forward Hilary Knight was named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 19-25. This is Knight's second offensive player of the week honor of the season.
As the Badgers went unbeaten on the road last weekend (Nov. 15 and 16), Knight propelled Wisconsin's offense tallying six points in the series. Knight notched three assists Saturday afternoon, contributing to Wisconsin's 5-1 victory. In the Badger 's 4-0 win on Sunday, Knight scored three goals, recording her second hat trick of the season. Two of her goals were put in on the power play as the top-ranked Badgers shut out the Sioux to clinch the series.
Knight first received the WCHA Player of the Week honor the week of Oct. 8 for her five goal game against Quinnipiac on Sept. 27. Recording her first hat trick of the season, Knight led the Badgers to a 7-3 victory over the Bobcats.
Throughout 12 games, Knight has scored 16 goals, nine assists and 25 points. She currently tops both the point and goal-scoring columns of the WCHA.
Next, Wisconsin will travel to Fort Myers, Fla. Nov. 21-22 to host New Hampshire in a two game series at the Fort Myers Skatium.
