Junior Marcus Landry led Wisconsin with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Two other Badgers, Brian Butch and Trevon Hughes had double-figure nights recording 14 and 12 points respectively. After scoring only four points in the first half, Landry, the Milwaukee, Wis. native, tallied 12 in the second half to lead all scorers.
Wisconsin's defense showed its strength, holding the UWM offense to only 18 points in the second half The Panthers shot only 40 percent from the field on the night and were unable to get to the foul line, ending the night 1-for-3 from the charity stripe. The Badgers shot 51 percent from the field, the first time since the Colorado game (55%) that had happened.
Butch once again was a force on the glass, grabbing five offensive rebounds for a total of seven on the night. Senior Greg Stiemsma made it tough on the Panthers in the paint, blocking two shots and pulling down five rebounds in only 14 minutes of play.
Wisconsin seemed to make the right adjustments at half time, turning what was a pretty close battle into a lopsided affair down the stretch. The Panthers as a team committed 17 turnovers, 12 of them in the second half and only had 16 total rebounds.
UW-Milwaukee was led by Torre Johnson who tallied ten points and two rebounds. Even as the Badger defense held the Panthers in check, nine different players scored and the team tallied ten steals on the night.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 3-7 on the season, and will host Central Michigan on Dec. 19 at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.
The Badgers return home Saturday to finish off their three-game in-state week as UW-Green Bay visits the Kohl Center. Tip is set for 5 p.m. CT, with the game being shown live on the Big Ten Network and broadcast on the Badger Radio Network, including 1310 AM in Madison.
