
Siow Leads UW in Day Two of Minnesota Invite

The Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team is currently in second place with a score of 572, just 26 points behind the leader Notre Dame, after day two of the three-day Minnesota Invitational held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The men's team currently stands in second place with a score of 482.
For a second straight day it was Yi Ting Siow leading the Badger women. The sophomore was a member of the first-place 200-yard medley relay team of Susan Johnson, Jenny Gelden and Jackie Vavrek. Together they recorded an NCAA-'A' time of 1:42.44, this was also a meet record.
Siow also took first in the 400-yard IM as she notched an NCAA qualifying time of 4:13.13. Johnson, meanwhile, placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a 56.55.
The women's 800-yard medley relay team of Hannah McClurg, Rosie Moraan, Anna Chang and Gabby Maddalena took first with an NCAA-'B' time of 7:33.36.
For the men, it was sophomore Scott Rice who led UW with a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (49.62).
In the 200-yard medley relay, freshman Jeff Wurm along with sophomores Eric Johnson, Scott Rice and Mike Desautels took fourth with a time of 1:33.26. Junior Brett Koerten recorded a third place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:06.46. Desautels took third in the 200-yard freestyle as well (1:40.54).
The final day of the Minnesota Invitational will be held tomorrow with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and the finals at 3 p.m.
