Wisconsin Takes on UW-Green Bay Tonight

The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team (5-1) continues its six-game home stand Wednesday night at the Kohl Center against in-state rival UW-Green Bay (2-4). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. with television coverage provided by ESPN Regional and ESPNU.
The Badgers are coming off a 71-55 victory over Pepperdine last Saturday at home. Junior forward Alando Tucker led Wisconsin with 16 points while junior forward Jason Chappell scored a career-high 15 points.
Only six games into the season, UW is already hot on the offensive end. The team has scored at least 70 points in every game and is averaging 85.0 overall. Three Badgers are averaging double figures'Tucker (19.3 ppg), junior guard Kammron Taylor (17.3) and sophomore forward Brian Butch (14.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg).
As for UW-Green Bay, the Phoenix suffered a 59-51 loss at Illinois State last Saturday. Freshman forward Ryan Tillema tabbed career-highs in points (19) and rebounds (nine) in the loss. Tillema is the second leading scorer on the Phoenix with 10.7 ppg while junior guard Ryan Evanochko leads the Phoenix with 11.5 ppg and 3.8 assists per game.
'Good player, good person,' head coach Bo Ryan said regarding Tillema.
This will be the 12th meeting for these in-state rivals and the 10th in Madison. Last year, the Badgers led by as many as 21 points and edged the Phoenix 65-55. Tucker went a perfect 4-for-4 in field-goal shooting in the second half and ended the night with 16 points. The Badgers have never lost to UW-Green Bay and have limited the Phoenix to just 50.8 points per game.
Aside from the second game in a six-game home stand, Wisconsin 's match-up against UWGB marks the first of three games against in-state rivals this month. After the Phoenix come to the Kohl Center, Marquette (Dec. 10) and UW-Milwaukee (Dec. 15) also will face the Badgers in Madison.
'Every time we play, they're hard-fought games, they're games of interest,' Ryan said. 'There's a lot of players that know one another. There's connections through the coaching ranks a lot of times, too. And it's all good for basketball. I think it's helped promote basketball in the state.'
