Wisconsin Begins Long Home Stand
December 02, 2005 | Men's Basketball
The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team (4-1) will play five home games over the next 12 days, beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday when it plays host to Pepperdine (1-3) at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers had begun the season with four straight victories before falling Tuesday to Wake Forest in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Four players are averaging more than 10 points a game'including Alando Tucker (20.0) and Kammron Taylor (18.4)'leading to UW scoring more than 80 points in every contest this year.
In fact, the team is 60-3 under head coach Bo Ryan when it scores at least 70 points (Tuesday was one of those losses). That bodes well this weekend, as the Waves have given up more than 70 points in three out of their four games this season.
True freshman Michael Gerrity is pacing Pepperdine with 17.3 ppg and 15 assists. Last week against UC Irvine, he churned out a career-high 25 points and had four assists.
Another freshman with significant playing time is 6-9 forward Chris Oakes, who has a team-best 8.8 rebounds per game. He nearly notched a double-double against Cal State Fullerton with seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Wisconsin is 1-2 all-time against Pepperdine, having lost last year 75-61 in Malibu, Calif.
