UW Ends Skid, Tops UW-Milwaukee 75-66

Five Badgers scored in double-digits to lead the University of Wisconsin women 's basketball team to a 75-66 victory over UW-Milwaukee Wednesday night at the Kohl Center and snap a four-game losing streak.
Freshman Jolene Anderson tallied 16 points off 8-of-12 shooting (.667) as UW (3-4) had a season-high 55.2 field-goal percentage. The Panthers (2-5), meanwhile, were just 26-of-65 (40 percent) in the conclusion of their seven-game road trip.
Also in double-figures for the Badgers were Annie Nelson with 12 points, Jordan Wilson with 11, and Janese Banks and Stephanie Rich with 10 apiece.
Nichole Drummond collected 13 points and Anne Witte chipped in 11 to pace UWM, which trailed by as much as 17.
'It feels great to be back home,' said head coach Lisa Stone, whose team improved to 3-0 at the Kohl Center this season. 'We played well in the second half ' and got a few more people involved.'
The game remained close throughout the first half, when the two teams traded the lead 10 times. Nelson made a layup with 40 seconds remaining to break a tie and give UW a 38-36 edge at the break.
Things started going in Wisconsin's favor in the second half, as the team reeled off a 10-0 run over a 5:04 span to take a 52-41 lead with 12:36 left in the contest. The Panthers committed four of their 18 turnovers during that time.
Despite making 21 total turnovers of their own, the Badgers kept their advantage above 10 points for the final eight minutes, save for the last five seconds.
Anderson scored UW's final points'a layup 'to give her team a 30-12 edge in points in the paint.
'UW-Milwaukee didn't stop playing'they worked hard,' Stone said. 'Both teams came in with similar records looking to feel good about themselves.
'Our team feels good about the win.'
The Badgers play their final in-state opponent, UW-Green Bay, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kohl Center.

With the triumph, the Badgers' all-time record against UW-Milwaukee improved to 14-1 and 7-0 in the past seven games ' including a loss to Marquette last week, UW moves to 1-1 against in-state schools this year ' the last time UW had five players in double figures was vs. Illinois on Jan. 13, 2004 ' Wisconsin also had season-highs in 3-point percentage (.429) and free-throw percentage (.889)
