Men's Hockey Game Feb. 5 Against Minnesota Sold Out
December 14, 2004 | Men's Hockey
No. 4 Wisconsin men's hockey has sold out its Saturday, Feb. 5 contest against No. 1 Minnesota. The sell out, coming nearly two months before the game, is the earliest men's hockey sell out at the Kohl Center.
The Kohl Center, which seats 15,237 for ice hockey, has been sold out six times previously for men's hockey. Three consecutive Saturday night sell outs ended the 2003'04 regular season, including games against North Dakota (Feb. 7), St. Cloud State (Feb. 21) and Minnesota Duluth (March 6). Before last season, sell outs happened on Jan. 20, 2001 against Minnesota, March 4, 2000 against Colorado College and Jan. 15, 2000 against North Dakota. Wisconsin is 4-2-0 in sell out contests.
Prior to this week, the earliest sell out of a Badger men's hockey contest came in the week leading up to last year's contests against North Dakota and Minnesota-Duluth.
Seats remain for the Friday, Feb. 4 contest against No. 1 Minnesota, as well as both games of the Badger Hockey Showdown (Dec. 31-Jan. 1), the series with Alaska Anchorage (Jan. 14-15) and the series with No. 2 Colorado College (Feb. 18-19).
Wisconsin (13-5-0, 10-4-0 WCHA) sits in first place in the WCHA as a two-week interlude in the schedule begins this week. Wisconsin is assured of first place until at least the weekend of Jan. 7-8 when the Badgers travel to St. Cloud State.
