Men's Hockey Succeeds Against the Best
December 01, 2004 | Men's Hockey
The success of the No. 2/4 Wisconsin men's hockey team so far this season has come against one of the toughest schedules in the country. UW is currently tied for the most wins in the nation with 10 and four of those wins have come against ranked opponents. Only Minnesota has more wins against ranked opponents with six.
In all, Wisconsin has played half of its 14 games against ranked foes, compiling a record of 4-3-0 in those contests. The victories include a win over defending national champion Denver, a sweep of defending WCHA champion North Dakota and a win over former No. 1 Michigan last weekend.
Part of the explanation for UW's difficult road is the depth of the WCHA this season. According to the latest USCHO.com poll (11/29), WCHA teams occupy five of the top seven spots while eight of the league's 10 teams received votes.
The Badgers will continue their difficult schedule this weekend as No. 14 Minnesota Duluth comes to Madison Friday and Saturday, with face off both nights set for 7:07 p.m.
