Junior Tom Gilbert extended the UW lead to two goals with a power-play goal from the point at 16:22 of the first with assists from Andrew Joudrey (Bedford, Nova Scotia) and Jake Dowell (Eau Claire, Wis.). The goal proved to be the game-winner and the Badgers took the 2-0 lead into the locker room.
Elliott made six saves in the opening session while UAA goalie John DeCaro recorded eight saves.
UW maintained the offensive pressure as the second period began with junior Nick Licari (Duluth, Minn.) scoring his second goal of the season at 3:49 of the second session. Likens found Licari who split the two defenseman and beat DeCaro to give the Badgers a 3-0 lead.
One minute later, junior Ryan MacMurchy (Regina, Saskatchewan) tallied Wisconsin's fourth goal when he beat DeCaro from a bad angle. Joudrey and Friday night's hero Robbie Earl (Los Angeles) were credited with assists on the goal that gave UW a 4-0 lead after two periods.
Despite scoring twice in the second period, UAA out-shot Wisconsin 16-5 in the second frame.
