Badgers Edge Scarlet Knights 55-43

The Wisconsin men's basketball team defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in their second-ever meeting Saturday night at the Kohl Center. The 55-43 victory brings the Badgers' record to 3-0 on the season.
Trailing 7-5 six minutes into the game, Wisconsin went on an 8-0 run sparked by a dunk by junior forward Zach Morley to bring the Badgers to a 13-7 advantage. The UW would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game. Devin Harris capped off the first half by stealing the ball at half court and going in for a dunk to put the Badgers ahead 21-17 on their way to a 21-19 halftime edge.
Harris opened the second half with a dunk, which began an 11-2 run to push the Badgers' lead to 32-21. Leading 44-38 with 4:17 remaining, the Badgers used a 10-2 spurt to secure the win. Harris was responsible for six of the points in the decisive run.
Harris led all scorers with 18 points, hitting 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. Mike Wilkinson and Morley each contributed eight points. Wilkinson also grabbed seven boards.
Senior forward Herve Lamizana led the Scarlet Knights with 15 points and 9 rebounds.
The Badgers were strong from the free-throw line, hitting 18-of-22, while the Scarlet Knights only hit on 4-of-12.
Wisconsin is now 2-0 against Rutgers. The UW defeated the Scarlet Knights 68-55 on Dec. 28, 1949 in Iowa City, Iowa in their only other meeting.
The Badgers next game is Tuesday against Maryland in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Tip off is at 8:30 p.m.
