Wisconsin Ends Preseason 2-0

The Wisconsin men's basketball team wrapped up its 2003 preseason with a 102-95 victory over the Charleston Lowgators Monday night at the Kohl Center. This win extends the Badgers' exhibition game winning streak to 23 consecutive games.
Trailing 33-30 with 5:46 to go in the first half, Wisconsin used a 19-4 over the remainder of the first half to take a 49-38 lead into halftime. The Badgers held the lead for the remainder of the game, extending the advantage to 17 with 12:06 to go in the second period. Charleston charged back at the end, narrowing the gap to three with just over a minute left in the game, but the Badgers sealed the game making 8-of-10 attempts from the free throw line.
The Badgers had four players scoring double digits. Junior guard Devin Harris led Wisconsin with 28 points. Harris also contributed seven boards and nine assists. Junior forward Mike Wilkinson added 18 points and grabbed six rebounds, while sophomore guard Boo Wade put up 15 and senior forward Freddie Owens tallied 14, hitting 5-9 from the field and 2-3 from the three-point range.
Over one-third of Wisconsin's points came from the free throw line, as the Badgers hit 35-of-42 from the line, while Charleston made 13-of-19 from the charity stripe.
Charleston also had four players score in double digits. Lowgator Tierre Brown led all scorers with 29 points, 25 of which were in the second half. Ime Udoka also contributed 21 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Wisconsin opens the regular season with a game this Friday at Penn. Tip off is at 6 p.m.
