Harris Named Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year

Wisconsin junior guard Devin Harris was named Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches, the Big Ten announced Sunday at the conference 's media day. As a team, Wisconsin was picked to finish third by both the coaches and the media. Harris was also named to both the coaches' and media's Big Ten Preseason All-Conference team.
Harris was second on the Badgers in scoring last year, averaging 12.7 points per game. He led the Big Ten in steals with 2.03 per game. UW is coming off its second consecutive Big Ten regular season title and a school-record 24 wins in 2002-03.
Illinois' Dee Brown was named preseason player of the year by the media. In addition to Harris and Brown, Michigan State's Chris Hill, Daniel Horton of Michigan and Indiana's Bracey Wright were named to the media's preseason all-conference team. The same five composed the coaches' preseason All-Big Ten team, in addition to Michigan State's Paul Davis. Michigan State was picked to finish first by the coaches and media, followed by Illinois.
