The Wisconsin softball team will see playing time during its off-season again this year with games scheduled this fall. The Badgers scheduled a road tournament and four home games in September and October.
UW opens its fall season Sept. 20-22 at the National Invitational Championship in Moline, Ill. Teams participating in the NIC include Loyola, UW-Green Bay, Bradley and Western Illinois. Last year, the Badgers compiled a 3-1 record at the NIC before the invite was rained out.
On Sept. 28, the Badgers play host to UW-Green Bay and UW-Parkside in the Goodman Diamond Fall Tournament. UW faces UWGB and UW-Parkside at noon and 4:00 p.m., respectively. UWGB plays UW-Parkside at 2 p.m.
Wisconsin closes its fall season with a double header versus Winona State Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. This year's fall schedule is a replica of last year 's fall schedule, which the Badgers completed with a 5-3 record.
The Badgers are coming off their second-straight NCAA tournament appearance and third-straight Big Ten tournament. UW finished the 2002 season, its seventh in program history, with a 31-20 record and 11-6 Big Ten mark. The Badgers' fourth place finish in league play was a program high.
