Badgers Announce Captains

Badger Coach Jane Albright announced captains for the upcoming 2002-03 season. Seniors Kristi Seeger of Stoughton, Wis., and Leah Hefte of McFarland, Wis., and junior Emily Ashbaugh of Woodinville, Wash., will serve in a leadership role this season.
Seeger and Ashbaugh are the two returning starters from last year 's 19-12 team. That team set a school record with 15-straight wins and attended its second-straight NCAA tournament. Hefte is the top returning three-point shooter and will challenge for the starting two-guard positions this year.
Albright, who is the subject of today's live Badger Chat from noon-12:30 p.m., indicated her team is ready to start play after four weeks of intense practice. The women's team opens the season with an exhibition game against the Wisconsin AAU Select team at 1:30 p.m. in the Kohl Center. The AAU team is composed of several former Badgers including just-graduated Tamara Moore and Jessie Stomski.
