For the third time in two years, senior goaltender Jackie MacMillan (Buffalo, Minn.) is the USCHO.com Defensive Player of the Week after she earned her 13th career shutout in her 100th career game against Ohio State last weekend.
Twice named the USCHO.com Defensive Player of the Week during the 2001'02 season, MacMillan made 43 saves in a shutout win and 3-3 tie against Ohio State. She stopped 25 shots and helped kill six Badger penalties in her second shutout of the season and 13th of her career in Wisconsin's 4-0 win. She was named the first star of the game. She also stopped 18 of 21 shots in the Badgers 3-3 tie on Friday. The Badgers were outshot 21-13 on Friday and 25-16 on Saturday, but earned three of four points in the series.
For the weekend, MacMillan posted a .935 save percentage. The win was her 61st career victory overall and 40th Conference win. The 40th League victory is the WCHA record, 16 ahead of the next best goaltender.
Wisconsin (8-4-2, 2-4-2 WCHA) faces Minnesota State (3-9-0, 2-6-0) this weekend at the Kohl Center. The Badgers and Mavericks meet Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 1:05 p.m. and 2:35 p.m., respectively.
