Uliasz Named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week

Sophomore Nicole Uliasz (Chalfont, Pa.) helped Wisconsin to a 4-2, 2-1 home sweep of No. 10 Northeastern and earned the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week, the week of Oct. 14.
The defender was a plus-4 in the team's 4-2 win on Saturday and anchored a Badger defense that held the Huskies to 19 shots on goal. She also set up the first UW goal of the season.
On Saturday, the 2001 U.S. National Team player again led a UW defense that held NEU to under 20 shots for the game. Northeastern managed 14 shots in the contest and just one in the second period. The sophomore also scored a power-play goal midway through the third period to tie the game. She was named the second star in both weekend games.
No. 6 Wisconsin travels to Storrs, Conn., and its first road trip of the season. The Badgers face Connecticut on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20. Both games start at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
