• Wisconsin football (1949)
• Led the Badgers in rushing yards (521) and touchdowns (6) in 1949
• Named second-team All-Big Ten
• One of the first Black athletes to earn regular playing time for the UW football team
• Became the first Black reporter at the Milwaukee Journal
• Later worked for more than three decades as a reporter, anchorman and producer at the New York Times and WNBC-TV in New York
