Peter N. Turney, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, joined the Badger rowing program in September of 2024. Coach Turney brings over a decade of experience in college athletics having served most recently as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for NCAA Compliance at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.  He also served in similar roles with the University of Utah, Arizona State, and Northern Illinois.

During his college career Turney was a two-time letter winner, served as interim captain during the 2005 season, twice earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, and raced in the Badgers' varsity eight at the 2005 IRA National Championships. He also helped the UW win the IRA team championship, Ten Eyck trophy, in 2001 and 2002, their third and fourth consecutive titles.

After graduating from Wisconsin, Turney pursued a law degree from DePaul University and continued rowing at the masters level.

Turney and his wife, Alissa, also a former Wisconsin rower, have two children.
