Kelsey Sharkey enters her first season with Wisconsin football staff in 2023 as the director of new media.
Sharkey spearheads the social media initatives for Wisconsin Football and the recruiting office, managing a group of content creators. She made the transition from Cincinnati to UW with head coach Luke Fickell.
Sharkey led the football program's social efforts at Cincinnati from 2017-2022, producing engaging short-form videos for recruiting and marketing purposes on all social media platforms. Sharkey collaborated directly with Fickell, assistant coaches and recruiting staff to produce unique and innovative content to attract prospective student-athletes & grow the Bearcats brand.
She came to Cincinnati after a year as the director of broadcast operations at her alma mater, Appalachian State University.
Sharkey has oversaw all of Appalachian State athletics’ video and audio activities, including live broadcasts and exclusive productions for App State’s official website, social media outlets and special events.
Playing an instrumental role in Appalachian’s video content, Sharkey filmed and edited the Appalachian State Football TV show “Rise,” capturing daily behind-the-scenes footage and highlights during the season, including the Mountaineers’ back-to-back Camellia Bowl titles and 2016 Sun Belt championship.
Sharkey joined Appalachian’s athletics staff in 2013, first as a video production assistant and later, two years as the department’s director of video operations.
She was a women’s basketball student-athlete for the Mountaineers, playing forward from 2009-13. Sharkey played in 132 games and helped lead App State to two Southern Conference championships, three WNIT berths and the 2010 Women’s Basketball Invitational title.
