Craig Hanson has been named Assistant Athletic Director of Human Resources, Wisconsin Athletics announced Tuesday. Hanson has spent the last 20 years at Springs Window Fashions in Middleton, including the last four years as the Director of People, Process, Culture.
"We are very excited to have a person with Craig's skills, experience and background join our team," Associate Athletic Director for Administration Jeff Schmidt said. "He will bring leadership, integrity and energy to this important role."
While at Springs, the second-largest global manufacturer and distributor of window coverings and drapery hardware, Hanson worked with senior leaders to define Human Resources' strategic plans and key initiatives. His team, which consisted of seven direct reports and more than 50 HR staff members, provided HR generalist support and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) services for 14 facilities and over 8,500 associates in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Hanson began his professional career at Rayovac in Madison, working five years as a safety and health engineer. After two years working at Trek Bicycle Corp., Hanson began working as a Safety Manager at Springs Window Fashions in 1998. He was promoted to Manager – Employee Relations, Safety & Communication in 2001 and then to Senior Manager of Human Resources in 2009.
Hanson earned a bachelor's degree in occupational safety from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
