Three former Badgers open 2026 World Championships for Team USA

First three of six Badgers get underway in the Netherlands
AMSTERDAM — Three of Wisconsin's six former rowers took the stage on the first day of the 2026 World Championships for Team USA.
Claire Friedlander secured a spot in the lightweight single scull semifinals, placing second in her heat behind Mexico's entry. The Philadelphia native recorded a time of 8:52.65 to advance.Â
The last time Friedlander represented the USA came at the World Rowing U23 Championships in 2022, when she secured fourth in the lightweight quadruple sculls.
Friedlander will compete on Wednesday for the chance to advance to the final.
Madison, Wisconsin's Isa Darvin and Northfield, Illinois, native and 2024 Olympian Grace Joyce raced together in the women's double sculls. The pair finished fourth in their heat with a time of 7:57.31.
The duo will compete in the C Final on Wednesday.
Awaiting their 2026 World Rowing Championships debut are 2024 Olympians Lauren O'Connor in the single sculls and Sophia Vitas in the quadruple sculls and mixed double sculls for Team USA. Former Badger Taylor Caudle is ana spare for Australia.Â
