
Badgers are bested by Trojans in Sunday match

No. 30 Badgers fall to No. 31 USC, 6-1
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 30 Wisconsin men's tennis team (11-5, 2-4 Big Ten) was bested by the USC Trojans (12-4, 4-1 Big Ten) on Sunday afternoon. The Trojans took the doubles point and earned victories on five singles courts to secure the 6-1 team win. Wisconsin's Patrik Meszaros earned the Badgers' lone point at No. 1 singles.Â
USC set the tone in doubles action, quickly earning a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles followed by a 7-3 victory at the No. 2 slot.
In singles play, the Trojans were able to clinch the match with wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. USC also earned victories at No. 3 and No. 4 after the match had been decided.Â
The Badgers' Meszaros had an impressive showing on Sunday, playing at No. 1 singles for just the second time this season. The sophomore earned a straight set victory over USC's Branko Djuric, winning the tiebreaker in both sets.
Wisconsin's spring record is now 11-5, and it is 2-4 in conference play.Â
