UW tied for eighth at five-over
TUCSON. Ariz. -- Wisconsin women's golf redshirt junior Tammy Wu is in ninth at one-under after Round 1 of the MountainView Collegiate on Friday at the Preserve at Saddlebrook in Tucson, Arizona.Â
UW is in eighth overall at +5.Â
Wu used a bogey-free, -3 front-nine to vault up the leaderboard. She earned two birdies on four Par 3s, good for the second-most in the field.Â
Alexia Siehl is in 19th at even-par. The senior posted a bogey-free, two-under, back-nine after an up-and-down start. She also had two birdies on the Par 3s.Â
Izzi Stricker and Grace Slocum rounded out the UW scoring, each coming in 53rd at +3. Stricker yielded just one bogey in her final nine holes, while Slocum had the third-most pars with 14 on the day.Â
Kate Brody placed 70th at +5. She had three back-nine birdies to carry momentum into Saturday. Competing individually, true freshman Elyssa Abdullah is in 84th at +8.Â
Slocum will tee off the Badgers tomorrow at 10:20 a.m., with the rest of the lineup to follow.Â
