Wisconsin earns 30–12 victory in West Lafayette
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Wisconsin wrestling closed out its road dual stretch with a 30-12 win over Purdue on Sunday afternoon in Big Ten action. The victory moved the Badgers to 11-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
The Badgers got off to a fast start at 125 pounds, where Nicolar Rivera opened the dual with a technical fall over Isaiah Quintero to give Wisconsin early bonus points.
At 133, Zan Fugitt battled through a tough matchup, earning a 2–0 decision. Joseph Zargo and Luke Mechler followed with decision wins to keep Wisconsin building its lead through the middle of the lineup.
Purdue answered with bonus-point wins at 141, 165, and 184 to tighten the team score, but Wisconsin responded down the stretch. At 174 pounds, Luke Condon flipped the momentum of the dual, battling back from a 5-3 deficit late in the third period to pin Aidan Costello for his first fall of the season.
The Badgers finished strong in the upper weights, as Wyatt Ingham and Braxton Amos each earned technical falls in under five minutes to seal the win for Wisconsin.
