Hensler becomes second Wisconsin player to skate in the Spengler Cup in two years
Madison, Wis. – The U.S. Collegiate Selects announced that junior defenseman and 2025 Ottawa Senators first-round draft pick Logan Hensler will join the roster for the 2026 Spengler Cup this December in Davos, Switzerland.
The Spengler Cup is the oldest invitational hockey tournament in the world, with the first edition held in 1923. The annual competition is held each December between Christmas and New Year's in Davos, Switzerland and features six teams from Europe and North America competing at the Eisstadion Davos.
Hensler is familiar with international play, winning gold with Team USA at the 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship. He also played on the 2026 team for the Americans.
Hensler becomes the second Wisconsin player to represent the U.S. Collegiate Selects at the Spengler Cup while in college. Just last year, now Wisconsin alum Quinn Finely made history as a member of the inaugural U.S. Collegiate Selects team. Finely had an incredible show in Davos, putting up a two-goal, three-point performance to give the Selects their first-ever Spengler Cup victory.
The U.S. Collegiate Selects roster, which will feature a total of 25 student-athletes from all six NCAA Division I conferences, will continue to be announced in the coming weeks, with nine players still to be added.
The U.S. Collegiate Selects open play at the 2026 Spengler Cup on Saturday, Dec. 26 against Frölunda HC of Sweden before facing host HC Davos on either Dec. 27 or Dec. 28.
