Kesner wins Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week

Strong showing in Illinois leads to weekly award for UW thrower
MADISON, Wis. - After a successful showing at the Augustana Penultimate Qualifier, Taylor Kesner was the first Badger to earn Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week in the outdoor season.
Kesner notched a season best in the discus in Rock Island, Illinois, taking first place with a mark of 178 feet, 3 inches (54.35m).Â
She ranks sixth in the Big Ten with her most recent throw at the Augustana Penultimate Qualifier heading into this weekend's action at the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. She holds the second-farthest throw in school history at 188-6 ¾ (57.47m), a mark attained during competition last year.
The native of Highland, Illinois, will look to follow up her individual national championship from the indoor season in the weight throw with another quality outing in Oregon this weekend.Â
Kesner and the Badgers are set to compete from Friday, May 16 to Sunday, May 18 at Hayward Field in the Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
