Prestigious honor recognizes the most influential sports executives under 40 years old
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin's Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Revenue Officer, Mitchell Pinta has been named to the Sports Business Journal's prestigious "40 Under 40" list for 2025. Pinta was recognized in the March 31 issue of SBJ and will be profiled in the June 16 issue.
Since 1999, SBJ has recognized close to 900 exemplary leaders across sports for their outstanding contributions to the industry. Pinta, the only collegiate administrator featured, now adds his name to a list of recipients who are among the most influential executives in sports today.
After a 14-year run in the NFL League office in New York, Pinta joined the Wisconsin Athletic Department as Deputy AD in 2022, providing leadership for all external facing areas of the department, including revenue generation, development, brand marketing, communications and legal affairs.
During his three years with Wisconsin, Pinta has led numerous successful external initiatives in ticket revenue, fundraising, and sponsorship. Under his leadership, Wisconsin Athletics has experienced unprecedented ticket revenue growth, including the most football sellouts in 15 years and record-breaking volleyball revenue. His fundraising team has also achieved three consecutive record-breaking years, raising over $90 million for "Building Champions," the largest capital campaign in Wisconsin Athletics history, supporting the construction of a new indoor practice facility.
Additionally, Pinta spearheaded efforts to sell out the new premium seating areas in the South End Zone of Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center. He also played a key role in extending key partnerships with Gatorade and Pepsi, introducing alcohol sales at UW athletic venues and helped bring concerts back to Camp Randall for the first time in 28 years, with Coldplay and Morgan Wallen set to perform this summer.
The 2025 "40 Under 40" honorees will be invited to the annual awards ceremony and banquet on November 21, 2025, at Pier Sixty in New York City.
