Saleh takes first in heptathlon high jump
DES MOINES, Iowa – Kyla Saleh and Shaina Zinter wrapped up the first half of their performances in the heptathlon at the 115th Drake Relays at historic Drake Stadium on Wednesday. Through four events, Zinter rose to sixth place with 3111 points, while Saleh followed closely behind in seventh with 3093 points.
Saleh provided the biggest highlight of the afternoon by placing first in the high jump event. The Waunakee native leaped a mark of 5-6 ½ (1.69m), good for gold in the second event of the day. Zinter landed in sixth place in the high jump with a mark of 5-4 ¼ (1.63m).
Zinter took fifth place in the shot put out in Des Moines, turning in a heave of 37-10 ½ (11.54m), her highest placement of the day.
Up Next: Wisconsin will be in action in three meets on Thursday. Zinter and Saleh will wrap up the heptathlon at the 115th running of the Drake Relays at historic Drake Stadium as the heptathlon long jump begins at 10:15 a.m. Mya Bunke and Kylie Finger will race in the women's 1500 meters at the Penn Relays at 5:25 p.m. CT. Finally the women's discus at the Texas Invitational will begin at 6 p.m.
