Wisconsin to face top teams from around the country on Friday and Saturday
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's openweight rowing team continues its spring racing season this Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, at the B1G Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.
Before they hit the water, here are f(oar) things to know:
1 - B1G COMPETITION: This weekend's competition includes a mix of Big Ten and non-conference opponents from around the country. Notable participants include No. 3 Washington, No. 6 Tennessee, No. 7 Brown, No. 9 Rutgers, and other nationally-ranked teams, as well as 2024 NCAA qualifiers SMU, Ohio State, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Duke, among other teams.

2 - B1G INVITE HISTORY: This marks the fifth year of the Big Ten Invitational, and it remains one of the nation's premier regular-season regattas at the collegiate level. The event is hosted annually by rotating Big Ten schools, including 2025 host Michigan, and is held at Nathan Benderson Park.
This year's event features 23 teams, and seeding is based on the 2024 NCAA-CRCA final season rankings. Wisconsin is the ninth seed among 11 Big Ten teams.
The regatta features three rounds of seven events – 1V8, 2V8, 1V4, 2V4, 3V4, 3V8 and 4V8.
At the 2024 B1G Invite, Wisconsin was led by the second varsity eight and the second varsity four, who each finished in second place in their first races of the regatta on Friday morning.
3 - LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers opened their spring racing season by participating in the Cardinal Invite on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UW was led by its first varsity four boat, which placed second behind No. 18 Notre Dame on Sunday. Read the full regatta recap here.
