Kelley shines in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The No. 14 Wisconsin women's track and field team enjoyed a solid showing at both the Meyo Invite and the Lenny Lyles Invitational, led by a standout individual performance turned in by senior Emma Kelley.Â
The Washington University transfer has shined on the track early on this season, as she inserted herself at No. 2 all-time in the 600 meters in UW's Indoor Track history with a time of one minute, 29.17 seconds. Kelley went on to finish in third place to kick off the weekend, as Emma Kruse followed behind with a fifth-place finish.
Fellow upperclassman Fiona McLoughlin excelled in the 5000 meters to cap off the evening in Notre Dame, as she earned a runner-up finish after turning in a time of 16:19.47.Â
In Louisville, Sydney Robinson put together one of her top performances of the season in the 200 meters, as the Chicago native covered the distance in 24.88 seconds. She broke her previous PR, slicing off nearly a half of a second from her previous best in 2023. Robinson placed sixth overall in a pool of 52 athletes.Â
Karina Janik followed it up with a 10th-place finish in the 800 meters, continuing to build off of strong showings at the Hawkeye Invite and the Fighting Illini Invite. Janik earned a PR as well, completing the half mile in 2:13.05—winning her heat in the process.Â
Up Next: The Badgers are back in action tomorrow at the same meets, as each competition will get underway at 9:00 a.m. CT to wrap up another weekend on the track.Â
