MADISON, Wis. - After a quality showing throughout the entirety of the fall sports season, Wisconsin ranks at No. 4 in the newest release of the Fall Division I Learfield Directors' Cup standings, presented by the the National Association of Collegiate Directors of College Athletics and LEARFIELD.

The Badgers concluded the season with 269.00 points, slated behind Stanford, North Carolina and Virginia. The Cardinal led the pack with a total of 413.00 points, while the Tar Heels followed with 397.50 points and the Cavaliers with 293.50.
The Cardinal and White rank at No. 1 amongst Big Ten programs after a successful athletics season, as Penn State currently sits at No. 6 with 260.00 points.
Wisconsin was led this fall season by a fourth-place finish by its men's cross country program at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 23, earning 80 points in the process. Bob Liking paced the unit with a 16th-place finish against the top competition in the country, as the Badgers defended their home course and walked away with a podium finish.
The women's volleyball team enjoyed another strong season to give the program 73 points. Wisconsin made it all the way to the Elite 8 before being eliminated by Nebraska—finishing the season with a 26-7 record, including an impressive 15-1 record at the UW Field House.
The Badgers were rewarded 64 points from their women's soccer team after they made a run to the Sweet 16. Wisconsin defeated Maine at the McClimon Soccer Complex in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament before heading out west to USC to continue their season. In a dramatic finish, UW upset No. 4 seed Virginia in a shootout—winning 4-2 before falling in a close battle to the Trojans with a 3-1 loss.
Additionally, the women's cross country competed at the NCAA Championships in their fourth consecutive appearance in the final meet of the season. The unit finished in 22nd place, providing 52 points to round out the scoring for the Badgers at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
