Graduate student transfer picks up first B1G weekly honor
MADISON, Wis. – Graduate student forward Ryland Mosley notched a five-point weekend en route to Wisconsin's win and tie against Alaska Anchorage at the Kohl Center, earning himself a Big Ten Second Star of the Week honor, the conference announced on Tuesday.
In Friday's game against Alaska Anchorage, Mosley had his first-career four-point night, tallying a goal and three assists in the Badgers' 7-1 victory over the Seawolves. The graduate student tallied Wisconsin's first goal of the evening 3:56 into the first period and added assists on a sophomore forward Quinn Finley goal and two freshman forward Gavin Morrissey tallies in the second period. He and Morrissey each put up four points on Friday, marking the first time a UW skater had a four-point night since Quinn Finley notched a goal and three assists at Michigan on Jan. 27, 2025.Â
On Saturday, the forward recorded the game-tying goal with 19 seconds left in regulation to help the Badgers tie UAA, 1-1. Mosley also scored in the second round of the exhibition shootout to give Wisconsin the shootout win. The graduate student's goal helped extend his point and goal streak to five games, tallying five goals and nine points since Nov. 9.
The Arnprior, Ontario, native is currently tied for second place on the Badgers roster with 15 points, and he sits in second in goals with seven. He is also tied for ninth place in the conference in points and seventh in goals.Â
This marks Mosley's first career Big Ten weekly honor.
The most recent Badger to receive a Big Ten Star of the Week was sophomore forward Quinn Finley, who was named the conference's second star on Nov. 19, 2024.Â
Mosley and the Badger men's hockey team are gearing up for a B1G series against No. 1 Michigan State at the Kohl Center on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on both nights.
Friday's game airs on B1G+ and features the annual UW Teddy Toss presented by BMO. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used teddy bears and stuffed animals to throw on the ice to be donated to Toys For Tots. For those without the time to obtain an animal ahead of time, Bucky's Locker Room will have some on hand for purchase. The Dec. 6 game is also Military Appreciation Night as we remember Pearl Harbor and honor those who served.Â
Saturday's game is televised on the Big Ten Network and serves as Joe Pavelski Night.
