Dean Boltz selected for MLS College Showcase

Boltz one of only three freshman invited to MLS scouting event
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's soccer standout Dean Boltz received an invite to the 2024 Major League Soccer College Showcase, the MLS announced on Tuesday.

Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Boltz joins 44 of the other top collegiate athletes who will be part of the scouting event in San Diego, California. The true freshman was one of only three freshman nationwide to receive an invitation to the showcase. Boltz is the only freshman forward who was selected to attend.

The Palatine, Illinois, native is coming off a record-breaking first collegiate season with the Badgers. He was the first true freshman in program history to record 10 goals and 24 points in a season — leading the 2024 team in both categories. Boltz ended the season third in points in the Big Ten and tied for second in goals scored, all while playing several games and over 400 minutes less than the players above him in those categories.

The MLS College Showcase takes place from December 11-14 and is a closed-door scouting event. MLS clubs will have the chance to scout collegiate players for the MLS SuperDraft 2025, which will take place on Friday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. CT. The eligible player list for the draft will be posted sometime following the College Showcase.
