Staff and Student-Athletes help celebrate Read Your Heart Out
MADISON, Wis. – Student-athletes will help celebrate "Read Your Heart Out" on a multi-school tour across Madison this week.
In its 19th year, "Read Your Heart Out" encourages parents and families to be involved in all aspects of a child's learning in hopes to build community around education.
Originally started in 2004, the aim was to increase African-American family and community members' presence in schools and children's education. After overwhelming success, the program expanded from its original five schools to a total of 21 schools. Not only has "Read Your Heart Out" grown in number of schools, but also new guest readers, including student-athletes and Wisconsin Athletics Staff.
