Wisconsin finishes strong at Larry Wieczorek Invitational

Badgers net several top-10 finishes on final day in Iowa City
IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Wisconsin women's track and field team wrapped up action at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational with several top-10 finishes on Saturday.Â
Freshman Sophia Rivera finished sixth in the finals for the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 3 1/2 inches, while junior Banke Oginni followed in eighth with a throw of 49-9 3/4.
Multi-event specialists Phoebe Edwards and Casie Pawlik both shined in the Olympic Development section of the 60 hurdles. In the prelims, Edwards finished in 8.91 seconds while Pawlik earned a time of 8.95 as the duo both advanced to the finals. The UW pair improved on their times in the finals, as Edwards finished in 8.86 while Pawlik clocked in at 8.92 to finish sixth-and seventh, respectively in a race that featured two professional hurdlers.Â
Transfer Liz Bohn took second in the mile with a time of 5:06.52
Gabrielle DesRosiers took ninth in the 400 meters in 56.81, a day after the UW sophomore finished eighth in the 200 meters.Â

Elli Daniels took third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.80, while teammate Devan Montgomery finished in 2:23.76 to claim fifth.Â
Meagan Blair also finished ninth in the triple jump, soaring 38-7 1/2.Â

The Badgers will return to the stage on Friday in New York for the Armory Invite beginning at 9 a.m. (ET)
