
Divers set to face strong competition in Missouri

Wisconsin looks to add to list of NCAA qualifiers at Missouri Diving Invitational
MADISON, Wis. – All eyes will be on the boards this weekend as Wisconsin's divers break off from their swimming counterparts to take part in the Missouri Diving Invitational.

The three-day invite begins Thursday with preliminary competition on the 1-meter springboard for the men and the 3-meter board for the women at 11 a.m. Finals for the men's 1-meter will start at 6 p.m., followed by finals for the women's 3-meter at 7:15.

The roles will be reversed the following day as the women compete on the 1-meter and the men on the 3-meter with prelims scheduled at 11 a.m. on Friday. Finals for the women's 1-meter will begin at 6 p.m., while the men's 3-meter finals will commence at 7:15 p.m.

The final day of competition will see both men and women competing on the platform on Saturday. Platform finals for women will begin at 11 a.m., with the men to follow at 11:45 p.m.

This will be the first time this season that the Badgers will compete on the platform.

Five Wisconsin divers have notched at least one NCAA zone qualifying mark this season, with three still in the hunt to attain a qualifying score.
Â
Ashley Peterson and Hazel Hertting lead the women's team, with each attaining zone qualifiers on both the 1- and 3-meter springboards.

Hertting led the Badgers against Georgia with a second-place finish on the 1-meter (296.33) and a third-place showing on the 3-meter board (280.95).

Peterson was not far behind Hertting, finishing third on the 1-meter (293.40) and fourth on the 3-meter (277.95).

Alex Hafey also has garnered a zone qualifying mark on the 1-meter this season. Against the Bulldogs, she earned a pair of fifth-place finishes on the 1-meter (285.60) and 3-meter (273.80).

Dana Liva last saw action against Minnesota, placing eighth on the 1-meter (231.75) and 10th on the 3-meter (256.50).

On the men's side, freshman Kevin Pomeroy leads the team, earning zone qualifying scores on both the 1- and 3-meter boards. Pomeroy took second on the 3-meter and third on the 1-meter against Georgia, posting scores of 356.25 and 300.98.

Andrew Pearce has notched a zone qualifying mark on the 1-meter this season, and led the team against the Bulldogs, earning runner-up honors with 309.98 points. Pearce also took fifth on the 3-meter (302.40).

Matt Aronson last competed against NC State, where he placed third on the 3-meter (301.88) and fifth on the 1-meter (267.15).

Ethan O'Neill and Max Reynolds are competing for the first time since traveling to Minneapolis to take on Minnesota.

Against the Gophers, O'Neill placed sixth on the 3-meter (280.65) and eighth on the 1-meter (266.40) while Reynolds finished eighth on the 3-meter (246.38) and ninth on the 1-meter (261.83).
