Badgers complete fall season with race against Minnesota at Devil's Lake
BARABOO, Wis. --Â The Wisconsin women's rowing team finished its fall season Saturday morning with the Devil's Head against Minnesota.
Â
As Wisconsin head coach Bebe Bryans said after the dual, the conditions weren't ideal at Devil's Lake in Baraboo, Wisconsin, but it didn't take away from the event itself.
Â
"It was a little bit chilly and a little bit rainy and a little bit windy, so it wasn't the best day to be out on Devil's Lake," Bryans said. "But it was actually a good experience."
Â
The Devil's Head consisted of five-minute pieces for both Wisconsin and Minnesota, with six flights apiece for both teams. Each flight completed five of those pieces.
Â
"I was really happy with the way our team did those pieces today," Bryans said of UW's performance. "They were aggressive. They stayed within themselves, so they didn't get wrapped up in the boat that was next to them, which was one of the goals for the day. Just overall, they showed themselves to be quite competitive."
Â
The Devil's Head wrapped up the fall season for Wisconsin, which featured three other races. UW most recently competed at the Head of the Charles, where it put together a top-eight and a top-five finish.
Â
Saturday at Devil's Lake continued Wisconsin's strong fall performances, which will help it going toward the spring season of competition.
Â
"We finished well and it bodes pretty well for our future. I was really happy with the day across the board," Bryans said.
